Artist Bio
Grapevine, TX - I call Grapevine, Texas home. I was actually born in Frankfort, Michigan but spent only a few months there. Before moving to Texas I lived many years in Oklahoma where my parents had a ranch, but Grapevine has been home to me for the last twenty three years. Living in Texas is living with the fable of the west. Texas is so rich in history and legend that one cannot help but seek it out and try to share it with others.

I never made that great decision to become an artist; I just always knew that is what I wanted to be. I studied with professional artists from the time I was in junior high school. I received an art degree at Oklahoma State University but my real art education came from studying with and knowing some of the great American artists such as Bettina Steinke, Donald Teague and Richard Schmid.

I have been painting professionally for almost 30 years. Most of those I painted exclusively in watercolor. I now work in both watercolors and oil. My art is about sharing the great and fascinating world around me. When something moves me, be it a story or a scene, I want to express it in color and light so that the viewer can share the feeling. I am drawn not only to the American West as it exists today but also to its history.

I was a feature artist at the 2006 Rendezvous at the Gilcrease Museum. I have been an invited artist to the Prix de West for twenty two years and to the Masters of the American West for eleven years.
